Harold Mabern's "There But For The Grace of..." charts pdf
I did this tune last year on a Chris’ gig and someone on instagram asked me for my chart. There is a chart of the head someone had given me back at WPU, but that didn’t include the intro or shout chorus. I like this Eric Alexander version.
this is a cool version with a different shout chorus (that I did not transcribe). Mabern was always tinkering with his tunes adding in little decorations/figures/countermelodies/shout choruses/etc. I imagine it something like a master woodworker creating a piece of furniture of increasing intricacy.
